Dude…
NFL is a week to week grind. Injuries are a key part to the whole year. You could be winning a lot of games at one point and boom, your best wideout goes down and everything goes to shit. Now, the Chiefs have stayed undefeated with losing some key players (Pacheco and Rice). Other teams are going to struggle (Texans without Nico Collins and Stephon Diggs). Here are your week 8 notes!
Same Ole Jets- Ok NY real talk. What is going on here. You have a future Hall of Famer at QB. You have 2 elite wide receivers in Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson. You have 2 stud running backs in Breece Hall and Braylon Allen. The defense has a lot of talent. However, you find yourself 2-6. Not only that, you lost the the PATRIOTS THIS WEEK!!?? I mean, is this 2007? The Pats are probably bottom two in the league, and y'all lost? They have to be cursed, it’s the only logical reasoning why they are so bad. Fumbling the football twice sucks, but the Patriots had 2 fumbles of their own. No interceptions were thrown by either team. Neither QB had a better QBR than 70. This was just a sloppy game that no one watched. Good on the Pats for getting a win, but the Jets need to get a win. Or the Main Man from Way Out West is going to die.
All Hail JD- Top of the NFC East. Great. A Super Bowl Contender. Better. Beating the guy who got drafted before you in a head to head. Priceless. The Washington Commanders beat the Chicago Bears 18-15 in historic fashion. Washington was dominating the Bears 12-0 in the third quarter. JD looked good throughout and the rushing attack was causing the Bears problems. Then the defense got a key stop and D’Andre Swift broke a 56 yard touchdown to put them within 5. Late in the 4th Roschon Johnson punched another touchdown in for the Bears putting them up 15-12. With time expiring, Jayden Daniels throws up a last ditch effort towards the end zone. It’s short, which is what you want in hopes of a tip drill. The Commanders got the lucky tip as the ball gets punched into the air and lands right into Noah Brown’s hands for the hail mary touchdown!! One of the wildest plays I’ve ever seen. This moves the Commanders to 6-2 on the year and puts them in a prime position to make the playoffs. Jayden Daniels (without a major meltdown), pretty much wrapped up the Rookie of the Year conversation with one throw. Honestly, GO COMMANDERS!!!
Jameis??- Speaking of life long shitty teams, the Browns find themselves in the toilet once again as massage parlor Watson is out with an Achilles tear. Enter Jameis Winston. The Savior of Cleveland Browns Football. He threw for 334 yards and 3 touchdowns in the route to defeat the hot Baltimore Ravens 29-24. Winston looked good out there as the Ravens defense looked lost for the first time this season. Nick Chubb played ok with 50 yards and the defense held their own. Now, the real question is how far can Jameis take the Browns? Jameis showed a lot of grit and talent, especially beating the Ravens. If he can play like this, the Winston Wagon might lead the Browns all the way back. Probably not, but it’s a good win and a good start.
