Dude…
6 weeks in. Man, it seems like the season just started last week. We are rocking and rolling through this season, and some teams are separating themselves from the pack. The Ciefs and Vikings continue to be undefeated. As surprises like the Jags fall to 1-5. Now, there is still a lot of season left to get on track, even if it’s looking grimm. Here is my week 6 takeaways!
Guess who’s back, San Fran is back- The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Seattle Seahawks 36-24 on Thursday night football, with quarterback Brock Purdy delivering an outstanding performance. Purdy threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns without any turnovers, which was a major upgrade from the previous week. This win was crucial for the 49ers, lifting them back to a 3-3 record and keeping them in the NFC West race despite a challenging start to the season. Deebo was on the receiving end of those throws, gaining 102 yards and a long touchdown for the 49ers.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks continued to struggle, losing their second straight game after a promising 3-0 start. Quarterback Geno Smith and the offense faced difficulties, with turnovers and missed opportunities playing a significant role. The Seahawks’ inconsistency, including issues with star players like DK Metcalf, has raised concerns about their trajectory in the competitive division moving forward. DK needs more targets and the bright season that started, has started to fall off the rails.
How about them Cowboys… Yikes! That was brutal to watch. The Detroit Lions dominated the Dallas Cowboys with a 47-9 blowout, exposing Dallas’s weaknesses on both sides of the ball. The Lions' offense was nearly unstoppable, scoring on every possession they had while quarterback Jared Goff and running back David Montgomery led the charge. Detroit's defense also capitalized on the Cowboys' mistakes, intercepting Dak Prescott twice, which added to Dallas's offensive struggles.
For the Cowboys to get back on track, they’ll need to address their inefficient offense and inconsistent quarterback play. Prescott's poor performance (173 yards, two interceptions, and no touchdowns) is a concern, and Dallas might need to rethink their play-calling strategy and offensive line protections to reduce turnovers and spark momentum.Or maybe Dak didn’t deserve the 4 year $240 million extension he got. But hey, I’m just a reporter so what do I know? Furthermore, defensively, they must tighten up coverage and improve tackling to avoid blowouts like these, especially if they want to have any success in the playoffs.
Big Trades, who got fleeced? The NFL saw two major trades this week as Davante Adams was dealt to the New York Jets and Amari Cooper found a new home with the Buffalo Bills. The Jets, aiming to bolster their offense, acquired Adams from the Raiders, giving Aaron Rodgers another top-tier weapon when he returns from injury. Who knows if this will really help the 2-4 Jets as it seems like Aaron isn’t the same QB he was. Meanwhile, the Bills responded by trading for Amari Cooper from the Browns. With their wide receiver room needing depth, Cooper brings a reliable target to support Josh Allen in their quest to remain competitive in the AFC East. The Bills have a dynamic weapon to their offense who has found a groove. The Bills just absolutely fleeced the Browns as they continue to struggle with message man Deshaun Watson. They got some picks but for what? Just cut Watson and start over at this point. I feel bad for Cleveland fans as this seems to happen to them consistently.
