Dude…
Another fall Saturday spent inside. A truly beautiful day as the pumpkins were being carved to watch another banger of a college football weekend. The spiced apple cider was going down smooth as this action packed football weekend delivered. Here were the week 8 takeaways just in case you got caught in the pumpkin patch.
BAMA NOT ON TOP- Oh how the mighty have fallen. The Alabama Crimson Tide have been a cornerstone of the top of the food chain in the college football landscape for as long as I can remember. Saban had the Tide on top. Saban moved on and the DeBoar era started. It started off excellent, beating each foe as well as beating #1 Georgia in an old fashioned gun slinging duel. Then the slip up. Vandy beats Bama. Ok, a slip up. A VERY MASSIVE SINKHOLE SLIP, but not non recoverable. However, the Volunteers told you to take a back seat. It’s Orange time. Nico and company took Alabama’s thunder and made it their own. Tennessee didn’t start off great, being held scoreless in the first half. However in the second half, Dylan Sampson came alive. Reviving the Tennessee offense by scoring 2 touchdowns. However, Jalen Milroe continued to be a top QB and gained the lead right back. Nico passed a scoring TD to Chris Brazzell to gain the Tennessee lead back. Jalen Milroe, this was your moment. Do you want to win a Heisman? This is the way to do it. However, Milroe threw a pick in the final minutes as the Volunteers handed Bama their second loss of the season. Can Alabama make the playoff? Or is this cornerstone going to be left out?
Trashy Texas- This is why I will always favor the Horns Down. How trashy can you be? If you don’t know what I am referring to, it happened in the 3rd. Texas was trying to make a comeback after a horrific first half by Ewers. It ended up with 3 turnovers and Arch Manning coming in for 2 drives, who found no success against Georgia's stingy defense. Then, Ewers seems to figure out how to play football, as they score 15 unanswered. Now, they need a massive stop, as they find themselves only down 7. A pass intercepted by Jahdae Burron was littered with yellow that overturned the interception due to pass interference. That’s when HUNDREDS of beer cans and water bottled rained down onto the field. Fans in dismay at the terrible call. Now, when a child throws a tantrum it’s common knowledge to not give the kid a reward for bad behavior. THESE REFS MUST’VE HAD GENTLE PARENTS because they did EXACTLY THAT!! To be fair, it was a good overturn, both players were being physical and it wasn’t PI. In my own opinion, however, that still doesn’t excuse Texas fans. HELLLOOOO??!! Grow up. Deal with shitty calls like the rest of us. Don’t throw trash on the field. Act your age and not like a 5 year old. Thank goodness Carson Beck and the Bulldogs held onto the win and gave the Texas Crybabies the first L of the season. The SEC is now wide open, and I think Georgia will find the win to gain the automatic bid into the first College Football Championship.
Indiana isn’t just a basketball school- When you think of Big Ten football, a few names come to mind. Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Indiana… wait what??? INDIANA IS 7-0 and just gave Nebraska the biggest beat down they’ve received all year? What is going on in Hoosierville right now. This Hoosier rushing attack is nothing to sleep on. Justice Ellison had over 100 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns. Not only that but 3 other running backs had a touchdown as well. This wasn’t just a beat down, but a statement made by the Hoosiers. Ranked 13th in the nation. Can they keep this run going? They play Washington, Michigan and #4 Ohio State still so who knows, all I know is it’s nice to see a basketball school be good at football (thanks KU for being shitty).
