Dude…
The first week of double digit weeks means we are getting closer and closer to the College Football Playoffs! Some major developments happened this week, including a top 5 matchup. The Dudes were watching sports and drinking the finest beers. Here are your week 10 takeaways!
James Franklin and Penn State lose again- So, the Penn State Nitty Lions haven’t beaten Ohio State in years. This was their opportunity to win. At home. At a white out game. Penn State started off hot. Will Howard threw a really bad pass, and Zion Tracy picked it off and took it to the crib, making it 10-0. Then, Will Howard decided to know how to play QB. He threw 2 touchdowns to Egbuka and Inniss to put them up 14-10 at half. It was a blood bath in the second half. A key play happened in the third, with Penn State needing a stop on 3rd down. A huge play was made by Elliot Washington II to stop them on 4th down. Then, he proceeds to step over the receiver, causing an automatic flag to be thrown. Fifteen yards and an automatic first down KILLED any chances at winning this game. James Franklin has lost 10 out of 11 to Ohio State and he may be on the hot seat as this team had the best chance he has ever had in beating the Buckeyes. I have no faith in Will Howard and that he will be able to win a National Championship, but it was a good win for the former Wildcat.
Big 12 runs through BYU- The Big 12 has been up for grabs this entire year. Now, after this week, it looks like the championship runs through BYU and the Cougars. Their opponents for the top spot in the Big 12 were K-State and Iowa State. Both teams took losses this week. First, Iowa State lost to Texas Tech 23-22 thanks to a last minute touchdown by Tahj Brooks. K-State was also handed a loss, but it was much worse. The Wildcats lost to Houston in a 24-19 game. Zeon Chriss was on the receiving end of a long touchdown to basically seal the game for Houston. Now, the Big 12 is in BYU’s hands to get the auto bid for the playoffs. BYU has Utah, Kansas, Arizona State, and Houston left of their schedule. They should win out (unless we get old KU back), and be set up perfectly for the first ever College Football Playoff.
South Carolina big win- Texas A&M was on a roll. A top 10 team and an outside shot at making the SEC Championship and a bid to the playoff. The Cocks had a different idea. Texas A&M got mauled by South Carolina 44-20. LaNorris Sellers goes off for 244 yards and 2 touchdowns. All cylinders were in full motion as Raheim Sanders had 2 touchdowns on the ground, along with 144 yards. Sellers also had a rushing touchdown. The Texas A&M Aggies have now found themselves in a tough situation. Win out, or miss the playoffs. With Texas on the schedule for the last game of the year, it may be more of a wish than reality for the Aggies to make the playoffs.
