Dude…
Football. Football. FOOTBALL!! The most exciting part of the year is here as we make a push to the College Football Playoff. Teams are fighting for their right to earn a spot in the playoff. The season continues to move along and teams are scraping and crawling at every opportunity to win. PC has your week 12 update now.
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE DAWGS- The biggest game of the week was easily #7 Tennessee going to Athens to play #12 Georgia. This was either a playoff eliminator for Kirby Smart’s team, or to bring even more chaos to the College Football selection committee to try and shift through which SEC schools make the playoffs. The Dogs just made things a whole lot tougher with a 31-17 win over the Volunteers. Carson Beck had just under 250 yards and 3 touchdowns, 2 in the air and 1 on the ground. The Georgia Bulldogs pretty much wrapped up their spot in the playoff as long as they don’t lose to UMass or Georgia Tech. Tennessee is in a little bit of a situation. Who knows if the Vols will make it in now, with a second loss on their resume and better football teams tied with the same record. They must win against UTEP and Vanderbilt if they want to make it, or else they make the playoff committee’s job that much easier.
MIZZOU NO MORE- Mizzou had high hopes of making the playoff this season. With one of the best WR’s in the nation in Luther Burden III and a very good defense, they had a shot. The loss to South Carolina 34-31 those hopes have been vanquished. It didn’t help that their starting QB in Brady Cook got hurt and it cost them a game. Brady played against South Carolina, but failed to help them win. He threw for 237 yards and a touchdown, but had a costly interception. South Carolina slung the football all over the field. LaNorris Sellers had 5 throwing touchdowns for 353 yards as well. It went down to the wire and Mizzou almost won, until a late touchdown from Sellers to the running back Raheim Sanders put a stamp on this game. Now, the Tigers have fallen out of the playoff. Hey, maybe next year…
KANSAS KINGSLAYERS 2.0- At 2-6, all seemed lost for the Jayhawks. They had just lost for the 16th straight season against the K-State Wildcats, putting an even darker cloud over a season that was supposed to be special. Well, there may be a little light at the end of the tunnel. First, the upset over Iowa State. Now, they beat #6 BYU in their own house with a score of 17-13. The offensive coordinator seemed to realize that Devin Neal should be used and to not run a crossing route into a Tampa four coverage scheme. Neal had 2 touchdowns, including the final one after a BYU debacle that set the Jayhawks up with great field position. The Jayhawks can still make a bowl game as they find themselves at 4-6. They get to play Travis Hunter and Sanders in Arrowhead. The Colorado Buffaloes are ranked #16 in the Nation. The Kingslayers are coming for you, Deion, and they may just surprise you and make a bowl game.
