PC's Prediction record 2-2
Dude…
The Wild Card games were over way before I wanted them to be. The Rangers beat the Rays in 2 games. The Twins defeated the Bluejays in 2 games. The Diamondbacks upset the Brewers and won in 2 games. Finally, the Phillies beat the Marlins in 2 games. Now we look forward to the Divisional Series games taking place this weekend. This series is the best of 5 games. I struggled with my last predictions, but I hope these won’t be as bad as the last ones!! No promises though.
Texas Rangers vs. Baltimore Orioles
The Texas Rangers made quick work of the injured Rays in 2 games. Their offense looked almost unbeatable. Their starting rotation shut down the Rays pretty effectively. Now, they face a similar team. The Baltimore Orioles haven’t been in this position for as long as I’ve been alive. They’ve always sucked. Now, they find themselves as the top seed in the American League. Their youth has blossomed into phenomenal talent that could win the World Series. Anthony Santander and Adley Rutschman will try to lead this very young squad to the promise land. Adolis Garcia and Corey Seager continue to lead the Rangers offense. The bullpens for each team continue to improve. I want to pick the Orioles. I really do. However, experience matters in the playoffs. Yes, Corey Seager has experience, but hardly anyone else does. The Rangers are filled with vets that have been in this situation. I believe the Rangers will win this series in 5 games thanks to that experience.
Minnesota Twins vs. Houston Astros
The Minnesota Twins FINALLY advance out of the wild card round. The star of the Twins, Carlos Correa, returns to his cheating friends in Houston to battle them in the ALDS. I can’t stand the Astros. I know, I’m biased. They are a good team. Yordan Alvarez continues to be an executioner to any baseball that crosses the plate. Kyle Tucker continues to be a leader on and off the field. Jose Altuve may have cheated in the world series with a buzzer on, but he can still hit the piss out of a baseball. Now, the Twins come in with some serious firepower of their own. Of course, they have Carlos Correa who was a part of the cheating 2017 Astros team. Royce Lewis made a huge impact with his batting when he crushed 2 home runs against the Bluejays. Max Kepler continues to show bright spots in his hitting. Obviously both these offenses can score, but the pitching is also great for both sides. The Twins have a ton of strikeout power in Pablo Lopez and Sonny Gray. The Astros have Framber Valdez and Christian Javier. I think the Twins pitching is better than the Astros. However, I think the bats of the Astros are just too good to allow the Twins to beat them. I have the Astros winning in 4 games.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves
This will be the series to watch. The Braves are the best team in baseball. However, the Phillies are hot and always seem to play their best baseball in October. Bryce Harper and the Phillies THUMPED the Marlins. Demonstrating that they are the team to watch. However, the Braves are about to shut all that noise out. This is the team to beat. Ronald Acuna Jr. is as dynamite of a player as I’ve ever watched. After coming off a revolting ACL tear, he’s been back and is better than he ever has been. The Braves supporting cast in Ozzie Albies, Matt Olson, and Austin Riley have shown the world why this is the best offense in the league. Spencer Strider and Charlie Morton are the 2 headed combo. The Phillies may have Bryce Harper and Schwarber, but the Braves are just too good. I’ve got the Braves winning in 4.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. LA Dodgers
There’s always a big upset in the playoffs. I know the Dodgers are good, but the Diamondbacks I believe could upset everyone and go to the World Series. Corbin Carroll has looked like one of the best players in the postseason. They stopped the high-powered offense of the Brewers in 2 straight games. Zac Gallen looked like a strong starter to be able to combat the boys in Blue. The LA Dodgers come in with Freddie Freeman and company. Not only that, they come in with a strong defensive set. Clayton Kershaw has been in as many playoff games as almost anyone in the league. Their bullpen is deep, and their offense is good. However, I think having the first round off will be the Achilles heel for the Dodgers. The Dbacks have shown that they will fight tooth and nail to come back into games. I think the Dbacks could pull off the upset and beat the Dodgers in 4 games.
