Dude….

The long MLB season is officially over and 12 teams remain in the hunt for the World Series trophy. We have some familiar faces that get in every year. We also have some teams we didn’t expect to be here at all. Now, the grind is all over. It all comes down to a series. 4 wins. Who stays to fight another day, and who goes home? It’s Wild Card week, and we're here to give you all of our predictions.

#4 Tampa Bay Rays vs. #5 Texas Rangers

This will be one of the best series of the wild card race. The Rays, were a top team all year. However, they lost out to the Baltimore Orioles. Even though they had the second-best record in the American League, they found themselves in the wild card against a team who hasn’t been in this situation in a long time. The Texas Rangers found themselves in first place in the AL West until the very last game. Now, they find themselves facing the team that is projected to ease their way into the ALCS. The Rangers need to rely on their hitting prowess and their starting pitching. The Rangers need Scherzer to get off the IL and take the Rangers to the promised land. Danny Dunning and Nathan Eovaldi need to continue to pitch well to stop this high-powered Rays lineup. Corey Seager, Adolis Garcia, and Marcus Semien need to get the bats going early. It will only help out their guys later in the lineup gain confidence to try and beat this high-powered team. For the Rays, this offense has been explosive. Guys like Yandy Diaz, Randy Arozarena, and Issac Paredes were one of the top offensive teams in the league this year, and they want to continue to exploit other team's bullpens. So this will come down to who’s bullpen can limit the other team’s explosive hitters. I think the Rays will win this series in 2 games. Their offense is just too explosive, and with the Rangers top arms still in question, it should be an easy win for the Rays.

#3 Minnesota Twins vs. #6 Toronto Bluejays

For a #3 seed vs., a #6 seed you would think the #3 would dominate the #6. I believe that isn’t the case with the Twins vs. the Bluejays. The Twins come in as the #3 seed. They won the AL Central, which didn’t have any good teams in it this year. Since the Twins won their division, they automatically got a bid to the playoffs. The Twins have had some promise. Their star, Carlos Correa leads the team on average and is the flint that lights the Twins fire. However, he hasn’t hit all that well only hitting a .230 average. However, their bright side is their pitching staff. With Sony Gray and Pablo Lopez; it makes for a killer two-headed dragon. The Bluejays found themselves slipping the #6 seed but could see it as a fortune rather than not. They end up getting the Twins, who are worse than the other two seeds below them. The Bluejays started hot, but have cooled down in recent months. The Bluejays seem to be the opposite of the Twins. They’ve got electric hitters such as Vlad Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, and George Springer. They’ve hit the piss out of the baseball this year and want to continue to do damage in the postseason. Their bullpen has been an Achilles heel for them this season. With their starting pictures all in the mid .300’s for the year, the bullpen has let the whole team down. Now, they verse a struggling batting unit hoping to be able to move onto the next round. Personally, if the MLB wasn’t set up this way, the Twins wouldn’t even be in the playoffs. However, their shitty division put them in. I believe the Bluejays will win the series in 2 games, leading them on to a much tougher opponent.

#4 Philadelphia Phillies vs. #5 Miami Marlins

Bryce Harper. Schwarby, Nick Castellanos, Jorge Soler, Luis Arraez. What do all of these players have in common? They are all playing in this game and can smoke a baseball. The Phillies vs. Marlins is an interesting matchup. Philly, who has been a wildcard team for a while now, continues to show that their team is a force to be reckoned with. Bryce Harper and company continue to show out as they step up to the plate. The Marlins have great hitters as well. Barley inching their way into the playoffs, due to the Chicago Cubs breakdown, can also hit the crap out of the baseball. Luis Arraez leads the league in batting average. This hot offense continues to be a phenomenal unit. This matchup is going to come down to pitching. I think the Phills just have a better rotation and bullpen. The Phills have Postseason experience with Aaron Nola and Zach Wheeler. They each put up great numbers and Craig Kembel looks to shut the game down in the 9th. The Marlins have no experience and their pitching staff didn’t pitch that great. I believe the Phills will have their way with the Marlins as they sweep them in 2 games.

#3 Milwaukee Brewers vs. #6 Arizona Diamondbacks

We’ve got some new kids on the block that we haven’t seen get this far in YEARS!!! The Arizona Diamondbacks demonstrated their talented youth and fought their way into the playoffs. Unfortunately, they get to play Christian Yelich, Wilson Contreras, and Willy Adames in the first round. The Diamondbacks may have the best young cores in the league. With Corbin Carroll leading the team as a young star, you can tell this team is on a mission. With veterans like Ketel Marte, Christian Walker, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr., the Dbacks are looking to make a run. However, playing against the likes of Christian Yelich and Wilson Contreras is no easy task. With both pitching staffs being about even, it’s going to be a pretty even match. If I was a gambling man, I would probably put my money on the Brewers. Since I’m not a gambling man, and the Postseason is a wild time, I’m picking the Arizona Diamondbacks to advance in 3 games.
