Dude…

Down goes number 1. Down goes number 2. Down goes a ton of teams as the meat of the season is just starting. Non conference play has been competitive, with lots of great matchups. We have about a month left until conference play and teams are still gearing up for great competition. Here are your 3 takeaways from this week.

Same Ole Kansas- Kansas started off as the preseason #1 overall team in the land. With veterans such as Hunter Dickinson, KJ Adams, and Dajuan Harris. Bill Self reloaded in the portal picking up shooters in AJ Storr, David Coit, AJ Storr, and Rylan Griffen. This was supposed to solve their shooter struggles from last year. Well, this week it looked like Kansas was back to their old ways. A beatdown commenced in Omaha as Creighton dismantled KU. Kansas played soft, slow, and couldn't shoot the three ball if their life would’ve depended on it. Dickinson is trying to be something he’s not. Pop Isaacs went off and Kansas was handed their first loss of the season. One loss, not a huge deal. A big game on Sunday as the Border War was being played against rival Missouri. If you watched this game, you still wouldn’t believe how many turnovers the Jayhawks had. 15 in the first half and not shooting the ball well from outside, is a potion for a disaster to take place. The Jayhawks found themselves down 21 in the second in one of the most embarrassing performances I’ve ever seen as a fan. Kansas made a huge run, getting within 2 points. However, constant missed layups (I think there were at least 10) and not stopping the Tigers' attack had them lose the game. Although it was close in the end, Mizzou deserved that win. Not saying Mizzou is a bad team, but Kansas just looks bad. KJ does nothing on the offensive side of the ball, Dickinson is shooting more threes than in the paint, Harris is turning the ball over, and the bench can’t shoot. Looks like Self’s new team is turning into his last year's team. Hopefully the Jayhawks can get this thing turned around, or it’s going to be another disappointing year for all Kansas fans, including me.

SEC is the Best Conference- The SEC played the ACC in the ACC/SEC Challenge and the SEC gave the ACC an old fashioned ass whipping. SEC went 14-2. The only wins for the ACC was Clemson over Kentucky in a highly competitive game. Duke beat #2 Auburn in another classic, but playing in Cameron indoor is basically an automatic win for the Blue Devils. The top end of the ACC proved to be worthy of being in contention for the ACC title and making a deep run in March. However, ACC needs to get their act together. They are the worst power 5 conference. BY FAR! It’s crazy to see Virginia, North Carolina, and Pittsburgh get dismantled this year. North Caroline returned most of their players. Pitt was ranked. WHAT HAPPENED??? The SEC on the other hand is going to be the most competitive league of the year. The worst team in the SEC (Vanderbilt) only has one loss. All teams are at either 1-2 losses. The SEC continues to show how the NIL is a great benefit for this league as they can buy players to come to their league. The conference of the future is the SEC and they are already proving it.

AP TOP 5 Rankings??- This will be brief, but this top 5 is crazy. Tennessee at 1 makes sense. 7-0 and has done everything to be successful. Auburn at 2 is also good. Big wins over Houston, Iowa State, and North Carolina are big. If they didn’t have to play against Duke in Cameron, they would be undefeated. 3 is Iowa State. Again, good pick. Wins over Marquette and the best team currently in the Big 12. An OT loss to Auburn in Maui isn’t a bad loss either. Duke is 4….. WAIT…. WHAT???? COOPER FLAGG GLAZE MUCH??? This is nuts. Duke has 2 losses. Kansas and Kentucky. Losing to Kansas in Lawrence isn’t bad at all. However, they have them ahead of Kentucky.  Kentucky lost to Clemson on Clemson’s floor and only by a few points. HOW CAN A 2 LOSS TEAM BE AHEAD OF THE TEAM THAT BEAT THEM STRAIGHT HEAD TO HEAD?? No sense at all. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s not right. I will die on this stand as Duke is one of the most overrated teams in this entire list. If you don’t think that, then at least put them at 5 and put Kentucky over them. Just ridiculous.
