MLB 2025 Team Rankings: Preseason

K Stelt

MLB 2025 Team rankings:

I have decided to rank all of these teams for the future MLB 2025 season. Not many technical studies went into this list, but more or less my personal opinions of how I feel about each team in the upcoming season. Some may be long, some may be short. At the end of the day, its the number in front. I also have a tier list of what I think the real expectations are for these teams this season. HAVE FUN.

30. White Sox: On the south side of Chi town stands a bland ballpark, with bland uniforms and a bland style of baseball. The only thing that gives fans any sense of joy is the campfire smore milkshake whatever they have. Not much can be said about this team. The excitement comes mainly from the studs they received from trading away Crochette (I don’t care if I misspelled it). Good luck this season, boys. Just have fun as much as you can because it's a long tryout season.

29. Miami: New GM, new style of ball. Go listen to him and tell me he didn’t want to be Peter Brand growing up. It’s going to be interesting for the Marlins. They still have some pitching prospects and starters. Other than 0 fans and a goofy green-looking ballpark, not much is worth looking at with any sort of interest. Trade Sandy and get ready for next season, boys.

28. Colorado Rockies: Nothing. Not even kidding on this one. Tovar is maybe the only kid I will pay attention to, but not a single thing this team did in the offseason interests me. They got rid of Nolan Jones; that's about it. They may be the worst, possibly ever.

27. Washington Nationals: The kids are playing. Luckily, I think they have a good shot of going .500 at best. Wood looks scary. Abrams is done gambling, Luis Garcia is a great ballplayer, and the pitching core is full of youngsters. They have a shot of growing a culture that could work well in future years. The only problem is this is their 2nd…4th… 6th? 6th year of a rebuild, so hopefully, the congressmen in DC have some good fun ball to go watch!

26. Pittsburg Pirates: Pitching. That's it. Paul Skeenes. Bryan Renyolds. That's the other.

25. Cincinnati Reds: This is another team that has the opportunity to make it to 500. They have a legitimate shot to be good. My issue is how good the Bullpen will be and the depth of their Starting Rotation. Lineup-wise, it shouldn't be awful, and they should be able to put up a lot of runs while playing in Great American.

24. Sacramento Athletics: SLEEPER! Guys, listen, I understand the whole owner thing is dumb. But forcing them to pay players may give them a wild boost to win. The issue is that I can't name a single guy out of the bullpen other than Miller. Severino could eat in that division, but it will be a challenge. The lineup is a wildcard. WILD CARD TEAM!

23. St. Louis Cardinals: Listen, pitching wise it might be a sh*t show. But their lineup is not the worst thing on the planet. There are far worse. Most of the kids just have to find their roles for the next few seasons. Hopefully, the youngsters on the bump can show their talent and get this team to not be bottom five. They could get there, and it’ll be rough. Now, will Busch Stadium lie about their crowd sizes again this season?

22. LA Angels: Another sleeper. I have hope for this team. The only issue is that they’re the Angels. My hope is eh. But in my heart, I want them to have some success that isn’t driven by one guy. Also, they need an identity badly. Pitching? Better. Home run hitters? Oh, get ready. Let's pray that Trout plays more than 130 games as well.

21. Tampa Bay Rays: What worries me is how much talent they have. I know the names are there, but are they really a conglomeration of young studs who play like robots. Stats, at-bats, but no snacks? Yes, the team will have to play at the Yankees' winter facility, which means the Yankees won't allow the 5 fans for the Rays to buy any food.

20. Toronto Blue Jays: My issues, just one. Is there joy in this team? Drive? Want to? Or are we all just prepared to stink and leave Canada? Can’t say I’d blame them, but the fans need some fun in the summer season. Bo needs to get to the level of 2023. Vlady will be fine, but the other stars need to show up like they’re getting paid to do so. Will Santandar be that jumpstart? We shall see.

19. SF Giants: I understand they have solid off-seasons. But that defense. That horrible defense is still at play. Adames doesn’t help either. Yes, I know they need the hitting. But how many run-offs of errors will occur this season? How about the FIP for their pitchers? I also don’t expect a lot from the bullpen until they have to face playoff contenders when they’re eliminated from playoff hopes.

18. Minnesota Twins: I don’t understand the hype here. They signed poop and piss in the offseason and media outlets much larger than anything I’ll ever be have them close to 90 games? Yes, I saw their starters, but I have 3 other teams just like this on the list. AND THESE GUYS NEVER FIGURE IT OUT. And I can rule in injury, because every season we go “ well if the injuries happen” the damn injuries happen and they stink. I will not reward an owner that wants to sell the team and breathed 0 life into the offseason.

17. Milwaukee Brewers: Again, another team that did zero in the offseason to breathe life into a team who needs it. NOPE. THE GM SAID, “It's my job to win a world series or create family fun this summer” slaps forehead. Cannot believe it. NO hope at all that they get no credit. They'll still win, but who CARES?

16. Seattle Mariners: Another BAD offseason for the cheapers in the Pacific Northwest. Paying good players? WRONG, that isn't happening. Sure, sur,e the Rookie of the Year, but what about it? He’s chasing butterflies in the outfield. GOOD LUCK WITH THE OFFENSE. Mainly because of the batter's eye. Your fans will never accept the fact that Bobster Witt Jr is miles ahead of your franchise.

15. Chicago Cubs: Injuries, that's it. Have fun missing the playoffs again, HAHAHAHAHAHA.

14. Detroit Tigers: Something is interesting about this team. It’s either “ win 86 games and be a force in the playoffs” or “they died”. Nothing more, nothing less. They had a good offseason. Depth is very much there, but is the talent reciprocal to last season? Or was it a fluke? Only God knows.

13. Texas Rangers: You guys cannot miss the postseason. The talent is there. No question at the slightest. Your lineup is solid. The rotation is an injury away from death. But it should be good enough for a wild-card appearance. Unless the hitting just dies off and the injuries pile on it could be another early look in for the cOwBoYs.

12. Houston Astros: Sneaky. Very sneaky. I have questions about how insane the bullpen could be. But I expect a slow start and then a big fat boost at the end of the season. Parades may hit 50 home runs. Good luck in the AL West battle.

11. Boston Red Sox: Go look at the lineup. Tell me you aren't scared. That's right, you are. Nothing screams, “Man, I’m glad we get a break offensively”. Wrong. They will score a lot of runs off of good pitchers. Starting pitching-wise is not a fun story for opposing squads. Bullpen. Better, not elite, but better. They should be in contention for the division.

10. Cleveland Guardians: Pitching will carry, like every other year. J Ram will go the distance, but I have worries for the entire lineup. Could it stay consistent? I worry. That's all. I do have some intriguing thoughts on the young core they say is ready to go. It could very well give them a boost. But a sophomore slump could be chomping at the bits. I still hate your team

9. Baltimore Orioles: Hitting should stay stable. I only have issues on the rotation and vast depth in the bullpen. I expect a very slow end to the season. You need the stars to shine. If not… oh boy. Be prepared. Also, where did the “let's spend money” idea go? Out the door? Same old O’s. Sabermetric GM’s man.

8. San Diego Padres: Coming off of a solid season, these guys should be decent enough to hang with the big boys. They can get hot. Sophomore slumps do worry me. Tatis could go off. No profar to back you up. I don’t respect the way you operate your team, though, so you get a minimum of 4 lines.

7. KC Royals: Bobby. Cole Ragans. (soon: Jac)

6. Arizona Diamondbacks: I have major expectations for this team. Very talented on all ends of the floor. Good stars in the lineup. BLUD’s in the rotation. And Wild Cards in the Bullpen, but they figure it out, hopefully. Last season was such a sad story. But 90 wins have got to be the goal this season. But I think they got 100 in the tank.

5. Atlanta Braves: Don't get injured, that's it. Hi profar. DON’T GET INJURED!

4. Philly Phillies: THIS IS YOUR LAST YEAR TO WIN A WORLD SERIES. YOU HAVE BLUE BALLED EVERYONE SINCE 2023. DO IT BEFORE THE DODGERS BECOME A GIANT!

3. New York Mets: They beat the Yankees in the offseason; that's the entire story. Pitching? BULLPEN? One player has made this team somewhat of a spectacle. And fat purple monster.

2. New York Yankees: I hope they all get injured.

1. Dodgers: No comment, they have everyone.

MLB AWARDS:

MVP:

AL: Bobby Witt Jr.- Yeah its biased, But I don't care. The kid is going into his prime after a 10.4 WAR season. I expect him to have a similar year. I also believe the era of shortstops is coming to town.

NL: Fransisco Lindor- As I stated above, the era of the short stop is heading our way. It’s a primary position that is severely undervalued when it comes to MVP voting. Congrats to the Mets.

AL Cy young: Cole Ragans- I understand it’s biased. I DON’T CARE. The lefty has control, speed and stuff like no one else, if he’s able to continue his dominance and take that small step forward, this shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.

NL Cy Young: Blake Snell- Not the favorite but a guy with a team who can hit 500 home runs helps the confidence a lot. As a former winner in 2023, the brother can carve up anyone he pleases. Won’t be shocked at all if its a close race, but the NL pitchers are on a heater this year.

Sleeper team AL: Athletics- I know you guys may think I'm frontin but I am so dead serious on this team finding a spot in the playoffs. Watch out for the hitters, and the pitching should not be overlooked.

Sleeper team NL: Reds- The Reds have been having some great offseasons while building their roster. It does not look super deep, but a couple minor league guys could show up to help this pitching staff. The lineup is very healthy and can score a lot of runs in their ballpark.

WS matchup: Royals v Dodgers (WINNER: Dodgers)- There is not much anyone can do to stop me from homering the Royals, but the best Player with a top 3 rotation can absolutely make the WS. Especially with how shallow the AL is. The issue is the Dodgers may be one of the best teams in the history of the sport. The Royals may take 2 games but the LA boys will go back to back again this season.
