Dude...

It's so difficult to go back to back in NCAA Basketball. The last team to do it was the 2007-2008 Florida Gators, which had multiple NBA talented people on their roster. Kansas has Grady Dick, who will be a lottery pick coming in June 22nd at the NBA Draft. Jalen Wilson, the Big 12 player of the year, will be drafted in the 2nd round. So as a diehard Kansas fan, I didn't imagine them repeating this year, especially without the all-time great Bill Self out of action. However, we lose to the bacon that no one wants, squealing little saps of fans, Arkansas Razorbacks. I mean losing always sucks, especially with a ton of promise. To lose to the Arkansas Razorbacks is like being picked last on the team at recess. Those fans won't shut up about it. "OHHHHHHHH WOOOOO PIGGGG SUUUUEEEE". I mean...

The Jayhawks lost 72-71 to the Razorbacks. The Big 12 Player of the year, Jalen Wilson, went 5-9 for 20 Points. He also had 4 rebounds to add. While I watched this game, Jalen seemed absent in the 2nd half. He seemed complacent. It seemed like the Jayhawks were on cruise control until it was too late. Another player that underperformed was Grady Dick. He only scored 7 points and went 3-11 from the field. Dajuan Harris continued to turn the ball over for a total of 12 Jayhawk turnovers. Arkansas outrebounded Kansas by 10. You simply can't win with statistics like this. Kansas dominated in the regular season, however, you could see the cracks in the foundation in their final game of the regular season and the Big 12 championship. Texas embarrassed Kansas. Twice. The boys just couldn't make shots when it mattered and not having one the greatest basketball coaches in the history of the game, not on your sideline hurts too. In the final game of the season, the Jayhawks went 3-15 from three and my eight-year-old cousin could've played better defense.

The Jayhawks will be fine. They have an incoming class full of potential. Elmarko Jackson, the 6'3 point guard out of Connecticut shows a lot of promise with his vision and playmaking capabilities. The Jayhawks lose Jalen, Grady, and Kevin McCullar from their roster. However, have a ton of fresh talent, waiting patiently to get their shot. I have plenty of opinions about next season, however, I will go into full detail in a later post.

The 2023 season is over, and now I get to sit and watch the other games going on. Who's coming out of the Sweet Sixteen? Who is going to get drafted where? It'll all come up later on Dudes and Sports.

Let's just hope we don't have to see Eric Musselman take his shirt off anymore though.
