Dude…
Now that the college basketball season is officially over, we here at the highly knowledgeable, 4 view website want to take a look at the top transfer portal players for next season. We have seen the transfer portal become basically a free-agency signing when the NCAA took out the rule where athletes had to sit out a year if they transferred schools. Now athletes can transfer anywhere and play right away. So, these are the top 5 transfers from your friends from the Dudes and Sports guys.
#5 Kel’el Ware (transferring from Oregon)
Kel’el Ware is a 7’0 Center from Little Rock, Arkansas who committed to Oregon last season. The reason Kel’el Ware is so high on our list is due to the fact that he is so versatile. Ware scored a little over 6 points a game, 4 rebounds, and a block on a little under 16 minutes of playtime per game. He shot at 27% from the three-point line but only shot 55 threes all season. The real factor is his 45% field goal percentage from the floor, which is pretty high for a player averaging that many minutes. He was also alright from the free-throw line shooting a little over 71%. The reason I am so high on this guy is because of his impact and his play-making ability. Ware draws a crowd, you can’t allow him to go one on one because he will start lighting it up from the field. If you double-team him, he can easily flip it to the open shooter. Ware is a very raw talent, and given the right circumstance, could develop into an all-star talent. The Ducks have sucked for a long time, and Ware is just wasting his talent on this squad. One of the best fits I see for Ware is the Muss bus and the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Razorbacks lose a lot with Anthony Black, Nick Smith Jr. and leading scorer Ricky Counsil Jr. all declaring for the draft. The Mus however has Trevon Brazille and freshman Layden Blocker and Baye Fall coming into the program, Ware could at to this dynamic frontcourt and make the Razorbacks a lengthy team with a lot of raw talent.
#4 Kerr Kriisa (Transferring from Arizona)
Kerr Kriisa was the three-point sniper for this year's #2 seed and Pac-12 tournament champion Arizona Wildcats. However, Kerr wanted to test the waters on a new squad and jumped into the portal. Kriisa averaged only about 9 points a game but made up for it with 5 assists and over 2 rebounds a game. The biggest reason why Kriisa is such a highly sought-after prospect is that he shot 36% from the three-point line. Shooting over 30% is known as a good three-point shooter. Over 35% is incredible. He averaged over 30 mins a game and did amazing things for the Wildcats. Now, Kriisa wants to find a new school where his shooting will have a bigger impact. The best spot for Kriisa is the Xavier Musketeers. Xavier made it to the Elite 8 and was highly competitive in the Big East all season. The Musketeers bring back most of their roster from their Elite 8 run, the biggest thing they were missing was a consistent three-point shooter that can relieve some of the pressure off of Colby Jones and Adam Kunkel. It also will space the floor to allow Jack Nunge to have more room to work down low. Kriisa will add some much-needed outside shooting to this explosive and dangerous offense.
#3 Max Abmas (Transferring from Oral Roberts)
When the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles made their run in 2021 to the Sweet 16, Max Abmas was a household name. Max and the Golden Eagles made a historic run by beating #2 seed Ohio State and continuing to win until they lost by 2 to a great Arkansas team. Max was the star of this years Oral Roberts team who was suppose to make some noise this tournament but lost to Duke in the first round. Max is now entering his 5th and final year of eligibility and he’s looking to go somewhere to win a title. Max starred at Oral Roberts averaging 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists on 45% shooting from the field. Abmas is also in the 40-40-90 club due to his near 40% shooting from the three-point line (38% to be exact) and over 90% from the free-throw line. Max is an elite player that will make a major impact on any team that he joins. This may be bold, but the Texas Longhorns are losing their Senior point guard Marcus Carr is moving on and Max Abmas would bring that leadership, shooting, and playmaking the Longhorns are going to miss with losing Carr.
#2 Caleb Love (Transferring from North Carolina)
Caleb Love is one of the biggest names in college hoops. Caleb Love was part of the 2022 NCAA Championship run where they blew a 16 point lead to the Kansas Jayhawks. Last year, lots of experts thought the Tar Heels were going to be a team that contended for a title. They were the preseason #1 ranked team with high expectations. However, they shit the bed this year. The Tar Heels didn’t even make the tournament. On the bright side, the Tar Heels get Amando Bacot and RJ Davis who decided to return next season. Love decides to take his talents elsewhere, in hopes of finding a new team to lead back into the NCAA Championship. Love averaged 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. Caleb’s three-point percentage went down to 30% which is still decent from outside. Love has tremendous leadership qualities that he will bring to his next squad. There are two teams that seem to be in a dead lock duel over the guard. Michigan is after him to replace Juwuan Howard’s lottery pick son. The Michigan Wolverines reload with a promising freshman class and Love would be that leader the Wolverines desperately need. The other team is the Missouri Tigers. Love grew up in St. Louis and has ties with Dennis Gates and the program. Mizzou had the best season they’ve had in many, many years and are looking forward to this upcoming season. If Love decides to go there, the ball will go through his hands as he would try to lead the Tigers to the promise land. Both options benefit Love, but Mizzou edges out Michigan in the Love Sweepsteaks as he comes home to lead the Tigers into the next year.
#1 Hunter Dickinson (Transferring from Michigan)
The #1 portal play in my opinion has to be Hunter Dickinson. Love and Abmas may be ahead of him if this was the NBA, however, college hoops has been a big man dominate league. This year, Adama Sanogo dominated for the Huskies to lead them to a championship. The previous year, the championship consisted of two dominate bigs in David McCormick for Kansas and Amando Bacot for North Carolina. Even though there are some examples of not needing a big such as the 2018 Villanova championship team. For the majority of schools, a big is a necessity to winning. Dickinson has been one of the most dominante bigs in the last few seasons, but the Wolverines have fallen short of making the tournament last year. He averaged 18.5 points, 9 rebounds and a block last season. I may be biased but Kansas seems to be getting a lot of traction on Dickinson. It makes sense. Bill Self is a legendary coach who always thrives with a big. Kansas has a really good sophomore in Ernest Udeh Jr., but he’s still a little raw so having a veteran big for Udeh and Ejifor can really benefit in learning from a big of this caliber.
These transfers are making to make a splash in the new year, which ones are going to actually help their team make deep runs into the tournament. Only time will tell.
