What a season, the last haul of the season is on our way. A couple of teams are happy where they are, some fighting a way into a playoff spot and others just wanting football season to come sooner. I will review my rankings of the teams and put some predictions on teams for this season and maybe next. Get ready for some exciting baseball. Well, at least for some teams.
30. Oakland Athletics: I have no idea what this team is doing, they have a couple of young guys but I just don’t know what the plan for the future is going to be, the sign mediocre guys and their ownership is falling apart due to a lack of cooperation within city officials to help keep a team here. A move to Vegas is best for the team because of the lack of commercial success they’ve had recently. A team run into the ground around a dying sports city. ‘Their fans love them but the city didn’t’, a tragedy was written by Shakespeare.
29. KC Royals: Now to a bad team that is trying to move in the right direction in the next couple of years. This team is a bad man, and it shows from the moves of the previous GM and what he did. The Royals now have to bite a ton of bullets, evaluate their team and make some moves next season where they can see how they can be competitive instead of playing minor league players during a major league season to evaluate them. We’ve seen moments of how good they can be, but their youth isn’t close to a competing level. It’s a cheap option yes, but it could benefit better than most fans believe.
28. Washington Nationals: It’s time for the nationals to start trading some players, they were in a rebuild, yes, but they need a lot of help along the way, they took the more “sign-n-dine” approach and it’ll take a little more time to get to a solid team in the next years to look competitive and complete. They have some guys in their system coming up, with that in play, they could have some hope next season.
27. Colorado Rockies: A lot like the Nat’s, the team has some great players but the rest of their team just isn’t in competitive mode. They can be very good at moments but they stink it up in most cases. A pitching core is needed and a bullpen would help as well. Cron and Nolan Jones are studs but they need a couple of talented athletes to make some splashes in the future.
26. Chicago White Sox: After a miserable failure of the past seasons, the only thing going for the Sox is their trade assets, Gialito and Cease are high in the market. A restart is needed but after doing it in 2019, it will be hard for fans to get back with that again. Robert is that guy but will he end up becoming a Tim Anderson in the future? Hope in the future is slim for the Sox and this was the last year they could’ve made a run for some money. Too bad it didn’t work out.
25. St. Louis Cardinals: Bad pitching can ruin a team. The pitching from the first half of the season just broke them to pieces. It sucks it happened to a baseball town, but trade talks are happening. Losing a lot of games also kills the morale of a team with studs on it. They need prospects and they need them badly. They should have a good look next year but one bad year out of 10 seasons was coming for the cards. Also, fix the manager problem.
24. Pittsburg Pirates: It was bound to happen. A very fun team to watch but overall performance was the problem. The talent was weak from the beginning. They played well but there were too many teams with better players that beat them down at the end of the year, bring up some better players and maybe you can find some talent next year to make a run.
23. New York Mets: Just a disaster of a season, just goes to show it doesn’t always work out. A solid farm system needs to be in there to help a talented squad make some moves and help with injuries. Trades will have to be in place here as well. They aren’t in the dirt, but poor play from players is the truth behind the lack of wins this team has. Is it better than getting swept in the wild card game, depends on what fan you are. But in franks opinion, he may need to be in line for the GM position in the coming years.
22. Cleveland Guardians, they’re still in contention for 1st in the AL Central but it’s a bad division. They have injuries running up on them and their pitching has kind of taken a toll this season. Yeah, they have a good 1-5 in the lineup but not enough for them to be that World Series-winning team. Trades for them are slim but maybe they’ll have something in the future. A bland team playing bland ball.
21. Detroit Tigers: They’re behind in the division but I like the Tigers, solid players on the team, young players. The pitching is good but the lineup can be sneaky. They are VERY similar to the twins with maybe a lesser offense. Good starting pitching and a good bullpen. It would be wise for them to trade but we will see what their GM wants to do. A mystery team for sure, reminds me of a Pink Floyd song. Could be good or bad.
20. Chicago Cubs: Another mystery team. Good players and good pitchers but missing those 1 or two pieces to become a valuable team in the division they're in. Trades are in play. I’d like for them to take advantage of that because they won't have a chance this year. So get some studs to fill in the next couple of seasons, it would benefit greatly.
19. SD Padres: Other than their studs, this team is like the Cubs, missing the links, it stinks they don’t have a farm system, and a lot of teams like to spend some money to make up for the lack of MiLB talent. Through the season it hurts a lot when guys go on the IL. Trades could be in play and mostly for their pitching. The Bullpen is awesome, but other than the 3 all-stars on the team, they need better hitters.
18. Mariners: This team needs a run this second half to keep a fan base happy. They have the tools but the play was kind of lacking. It could very well turn around for them, especially since their offensive weapons underperformed. I could see them making a break but it will have to happen soon to keep up in the west behind two juggernauts of teams.
17. LA Angels: Trade Ohtani or make a playoff run? That is the question at stake. The Angels are in the last season of their runs. In my opinion, they trade Ohtani because they won't make a WS run anyways if they make it to the playoffs. Trout is out, and your pitching is stinking it up, also why is your bullpen so bad every year, please fix it. I don’t know how I could be an Angels fan at this point, it hurts.
16. Minnesota Twins: The tallest midget in the AL Central. They have decent pitching and a good bullpen, the hitting is streaky and needs solid bats. They could make a move in the playoffs but right now they're so boring it’s unbelievable, they need to win a lot more games for people to believe in them. And that looks very slim.
15. Yankees: They're good, but not good enough, they’ve been struck with injuries but that doesn’t explain them to be last in the east. They need some guys back to make some moves in the east, but since the east is so good they’ll need a lot of great games to make some moves. I hate the Yankees so they get a short response.
14. Reds: Yeah they have an electric player in De La Cruz, but they're in a bad division. If they don’t make the playoffs, baseball fans will be upset not seeing De La Cruz and the young team making some noise in the playoffs. But if they make it, they’ll get swept by any team they play. Nerves set in for young teams and the pressure will cause them to fall. They remind me of a slightly younger 2022 Mariners squad.
13. Phillies: They sucked at the beginning of the year but with Bryce Coming back, the backbone of the team looks stronger and more competitive. The pitching is still iffy and their hitting can explode at any time. They’ll be a fun playoff team but it looks tricky for them to make a return to the World Series. They don’t have anything stronger than any other team but they have a strong fan base and great leadership.
12. Red Sox: Sneaky team alert. Not a ton of wins but they have some sneaky power in both hitting and pitching. I’d love to see this team in the playoffs. And Yoshida is an underrated rookie who is helping this seasoned team out a lot during the season. Being in the AL East makes it hard to get a playoff spot. Hopefully, they make it because they can take a series away from any team.
11. Marlins: Love this team. Great pitching, solid hitting, and decent defense. They’ve got all the players they need to make the playoffs. Pitching-wise, they are a consistent contender for any team they play. With a good lineup, I’m excited to see them back in the playoffs (pending they don’t screw it all up).
10. D-Backs: Young, Fast, and Fast. This team has had some slip-ups once and a while but with ROY Leading Corbin Carrol, the team can run you around the diamond. Pitching is stable and hopefully, it can keep the D-backs fighting for first place in the NL West.
9. Jays: GOOD team. Love them a lot. Got World Series all over their jerseys. But will the bullpen be able to provide a competitive chance to make it all the way? I think so but they're their own worst enemy when it comes to failure. They beat themselves more than other teams beating them. Be prepared for some exciting moments and please get whit Merrifield into the World Series.
8. Giants: Hey look who’s not talking about this team. That’s right, name me one player on this team not named Joc Pederson. You can’t. That’s why I’m not talking about any of their players. And it's why they're going to win the World Series again out of nowhere. Success follows this team everywhere. Solid players all playing as a team.
7. Brewers: It would be fun to see the Brewers make a run to the World Series, but who will be the one to be the offensive power to get them there? The pitching is solid and the bullpen is GOOD. But the hitting is just ok to get them 1st place in the NL Central, Yay (sarcasm). Yelich deserves a WS but if he’s the one providing the hits then it'll be a little bit tougher than expected.
6. Rangers: The Royals gave you the best left-handed arm in a bullpen and you still find ways to disappoint your offense. The bullpen is in such a deep hole that it'll be hard to get to the World Series. But man I’d love for them to win the WS because they need it so badly.
5. Astros: Come back kids, oh yeah Altuve and Alverez are coming back too. Be scared, AL West because they are not looking back, they're ready to go back to back and physically beat any team in their way. They’re good at it all. They’re probably going to end up being first in the AL West when it’s all said and done.
4. Dodgers: Yeah they choke but they can trade well. Give them a pitcher and it could be game over for the NL, minus Atlanta. The regular season hasn’t been their strong suit but I believe with a new pitcher in their rotation they can take on teams like the Braves. HOF players do HOF things but can it be completed in the postseason?
3. Tampa Bay: Hmm, don’t say a word about July to these guys. They're such a good team but the Royals have more fans at their games than the Rays. They have the tools, but fan backup is huge, they have fumbled the bag in the past but maybe this is the year they take a step forward from where they were at. They’ve lost a lot of games in July but they still have a ton of wins.
2. Orioles: At this point, it all comes down to how they do in the playoffs. Teams can play well in the regular season but the postseason is a brand new season. Will the young talent have the mental strength to get them to the WS or will it end up like every other young team in the playoffs? At this point were just waiting to see what they do.
1. Braves: It's World Series or Bust for this team. This is the KC Chiefs of the MLB. There are maybe 5 teams that can legitimately compete against them. Nothing much to say but the next time I talk about this team it better be them winning the WS. If not, it will be another disappointing time in Atlanta.
