Women’s Flyweight: 6-1 Chechen Tereza Bleda vs. 8-2 Brazilian Gabriella Fernandes
Tereza Blades is the heavy favorite (-230) joins Gabriella Fernandes (+190) in the octagon. Both coming off losses in their UFC debuts, it could be the loser hits the bricks in the only women’s match this Saturday.
Flyweight: 8-2 American Carlos Hernandez vs. 16-4 Ukrainian Denys Bondar
Denys Bondar (-130) is the slight favorite to his adversary Carlos Hernandez (+110). Carlos is a Contender series alum but is coming off of a loss bringing his UFC record to 1-1, Denys is coming off of an injury loss in his UFC debut last year.
Bantamweight: 18-9 South Korean Kyung Ho Kang vs 18-3 Mexican Christian Quinonez
Two fighters who've won their last fight battle with the favorite Christan Quinonez (-150) and Kyung Ho Kang (+125). Kang the elder statesmen is 6-3-1 in UFC bouts where Christian got his only UFC win in his debut last year.
Flyweight: 16-6 American Jimmy Flick vs. 12-3 Brazilian Alessandro Costa
Real interesting fight here with some pretty hefty odds in favor of Alessandro Costa (-260) and the underdog Jimmy “The Brick” Flick (+210). Both coming off losses, Flick is 1-1 in the UFC and Costa lost his UFC debut by TKO last December.
Welterweight: 21-4-1 Dane Nicolas Dalby vs. 19-3 Russian Muslim Salihov
Nicolas “Danish Dynamite” Dalby is in the running for best nickname of the night, but he is the underdog (+160) the opposition Muslim “King Of Kung Fu” Salikhov, another great nickname, is favored (-190). Main Card
Lightweight: 13-2 Mexican Manuel Torres vs. 13-4 Brazilian Nikolas Motta
Manuel “El Loco” Torres is the favorite in this one (-180) while his adversary Nikolas “Iron” Motta has plus odds at (+155). Both are Contender series alumni and neither have let any of their fights go the distance in the UFC with Manuel having a first round TKO win in his debut in May of last year and Nikolas 1-1 with also a first round TKO his last fight last September.
Featherweight: 17-4 American Pat Sabatini vs. 14-1 Brazilian Lucas Almeida
Pat Sabatini (-195) takes on Lucas Almeida (+160). Sabatini s coming off his first UFC loss taking his record down to 4-1 while Almeida won his UFC debut last year.
Middleweight: 8-2 Armenian Armen Petrosyan vs. 8-0 Brit Christian Leroy Duncan
Christian Leroy Duncan is favored in this one (-150) with Armen at (+126) pretty close odda for Duncan being undefeated. Duncan won his UFC debut earlier this year while Armen, a Contender series alum, is 2-1 in the UFC.
Lightweight: #8 19-3 Armenian Arman Tsarukyan vs. 12-4 Brazilian Joaquim Silva
Longest odds of the night by far go to Arman Tsarukyan (-1100) who takes on Joaquim Silva (+700). Arman has been hot since joining the UFC with a record of 6-2 in UFC bouts, he lost his debut to now champion at lightweight Islam Makhachev to decision. Joaquim on the other hand is 3-3 in UFC bouts. Both fighters have serious knockout power but Arman has a chin, this should be a great exciting matchup in the co-main event.
The main event for UFC on ESPN 47 is between middleweight contenders Marvin “The Italian Dream” Vettori (-125) and Jared “The Killa Gorilla” Cannonier (+105). Both UFC veterans Marvin has a record of 9-4-1 with 2 of his losses to Izzy Adasanya and another to Robert Whittaker, Marvin has the resume of title contender. Jared 7-6 in the UFC, has more losses but tougher competition, with 2 of his losses also coming from Adesanya and Whittaker the other 4 are from Dominick Reyes, Jan Blachovich, Glover Texeria and in his UFC debut Shawn Jordan. The winner of this could be fighting Khamzat or even fighting for the title against Izzy again.
Card Expectations:
This should be a quick night with lots of power in the red and blue corners of each fight Saturday night. My Lock is Arman Tsarukyan at (-1100) he’s an incredible fighter and I was surprised by his loss to Mateusz Gamrot in the main event of UFC on ESPN 38 and expect him to come back strong against Joaquim Silva. The main event, while exciting, is two has-beens and I do not expect much in the future for either. Jared being 39 is on his way out and Marvin, while only 29, has not shown much to compete with the top of the division and will probably be a career contender, which is not a bad jig but I expected big things from the Italian Stallion early in his career.
Enjoy the card and drink responsibly.
