We are down to two teams. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish outlasted the Penn State Nittany Lions on a game winning field goal. THE Ohio State Buckeyes beat the Texas Longhorns 28-14 to set up the National Championship. Will it be Riley Leornard and this stifling defense who brings home the Natty?? Or will it be Will Howard and the insane offensive weapons around him who spoil the Fighting Irish’s party. Here is my prediction for the National Championship.

For Ohio State, the inconsistent play of quarterback Will Howard raises concerns, even though he has been good in the playoffs. He wasn’t good at K-State, he may find a way to choke in the biggest moment of his college athletic career. Their elite wide receiver corps, led by Jeremiah Smith and Emeka Egbuka, will be a handful for Notre Dame's secondary. TreVeyon Henderson's performance as the Buckeyes' lead running back will be the X-factor; his ability to balance the offense and break big plays could tip the scales in their favor. On the other hand, Notre Dame’s Riley Leonard must rise to the occasion and deliver a sharp performance to keep the Irish in contention. Running back Jeremiyah Love will play a crucial role as the X-factor for Notre Dame, as his ability to pound the ball on the ground could control the tempo of the game. Both defenses are strong, making the turnover battle pivotal in determining the outcome. While I’ve often picked against Ohio State in big games—only to watch their stars come through—I’ll lean on their exceptional playmakers this time and trust in their ability to win the big moments. I do not trust in Will Howard and I will die on this hill, but the playmaking ability of the Buckeyes’ offense will be too big of a match for the Fighting Irish. Give me Ohio State to win the 2024-2025 National Championship.
