How6rd’s Takeaways
If the Heisman is an individual award, Jayden Daniels is 100% the favorite: I never want to be biased in these takes if something is wrong or not completely truthful, but what the QB of the LSU Tigers has done not only in the stats but the impact Jayden Daniels has had for the team is truly remarkable. Daniels has not had one “bad” game since he faced Florida State on the season opener and if it weren’t for the defense letting him down nearly every week things could be a different story for LSU. This past weekend Daniels was the first FBS player EVER to have at least 350 passing yards and at least 200 rushing yards in a single game against Florida and two of his top receivers with 100+ passing yards each. He has the most passing TDs this season with the third most passing yards and is among the top 30 in rushing yards on top of that. In the past 12 years there have been three Heisman winners winning the award on teams that had three or more losses, including last season's Heisman winner in Caleb Williams. I think it is still a very close race as the other three in Michael Penix, Bo Nix, and Marvin Harrison Jr. have been huge for their teams this season, but as in total production from one player every week compared to those others Daniels has that claimed right now. He has very little room to slip up the rest of the year meanwhile as the others not only have had more success but also solid numbers of their own this year. Should be an interesting race through the end, but if you had me pick who is most important to their team my answer would surely be Jayden Daniels as of now.
Jimbo Fisher wins in the end and gets bought out of a rough situation: You’d think getting a coach such as Jimbo Fisher who has had a lot of success in the past and even a record over a .500 winning percentage as a coach wouldn’t just get pushed out by the school, but truth is nothing had changed with Texas A&M football from before he got there. Getting five star prospects for multiple years didn’t matter and outside of a couple of large upsets and consistent seasons appearing in bowl games, nothing was getting better and even got bad last season losing recruits as well as active players being suspended. If he wants to then Fisher could easily get a job somewhere else after a hefty buyout clause of $76.8 million so safe to say he’s not doing badly at all. I will admit this came at a wild time after a 51-10 blowout win over Mississippi State and clinching a bowl game, but at the same time the Aggies have to bite the bullet and find something to make such an expensive decision worth it. The question now is who wants to come in and clean up the Texas A&M mess and make them to be legitimate threats to win the SEC for once?
Championship Week this season will be electric: At this point of the season we at least see one team who looks like they’ll be in the CFB Playoffs much earlier than the rest of the top teams, yet any of the top 4 teams right now can still be completely out of it soon. It was made official this past week that Georgia and Alabama will have an SEC Title rematch that could be easily up to the expectations their past wars have gone through as both teams look like legitimate National Championship threats right now. Speaking of that same scenario in a different conference, the PAC 12 championship has a chance to have the same implications as, although they both have to get through the next two weeks successfully, the Huskies and Ducks are on track to have a huge showdown for their conference title and possibly give the PAC 12 one last conference classic as the two Heisman QBs would face off again for a spot in the playoffs. The Big 10 and ACC may not have the same as the largely favorited winners seem to be Florida State and the true title championship in Michigan vs Ohio State, but an upset to crush hopes of a playoff appearance is just as intriguing as two teams battling for a spot. The one conference in the Power 5 that seems to already not have a team in the playoffs is the Big 12 as both Oklahoma and Texas have crashed hard toward the end of the season, but with four teams at 5-2 in conference play a game behind first and three more teams only one loss more behind them it could be true chaos to see who reaches and wins that title game. We are in for an absolute thrill ride for a season finale and it’s only right that the four-team College Football Playoff system goes out with the best race to the final four it’s had.
PC’S Takeaways
Kansas’s QB Woes continue- The Jayhawks continue to demonstrate their lack of toughness throughout the season. This game against Texas Tech was another example of that. First, we can talk about the QB room. Jalon, I’m going to try and say this as nicely as possible. WHY THE FUCK AREN’T YOU PLAYING??? I mean for crying out loud. You hurt your back but then proceed to be out 4 regular season games just like last year. We are 2-2 without you and 3-5 all time over the past 2 seasons. I cannot fathom what type of injury he has, but it seems to always have him out during some of the most key games of the season. SO, Jason Bean steps in. He leads the Jayhawks to a huge win over Oklahoma. What happens when they play 4-5 Texas Tech? He shits the bed. Can’t get anything on offense going so he gets injured in the second quarter. Leaving us with Cole Ballard. The third string Quarterback actually got things going. However, in a massive game against a team we’re supposed to beat, we have a true freshman in the game. Speaking about not having any toughness. Can the defense figure out how to stop the run?? I mean they gave up another 100+ rushing game. This defense is softer than Charman ultra strong. On top of that, Cobee Bryant couldn’t keep up with Jerand Bradley all game and got called for multiple holding and pass interference calls. Come on man, you can’t have a name like that and ABSOLUTELY SHIT THE BED!! It’s unacceptable. With K-State coming to town next week, Jalon needs to either man up, or, Kansas fans should expect another disappointing game.
OK, wtf Oklahoma State- You go into Lawerence and beat a very good Kansas team. You then face Oklahoma in maybe your last rivalry game against them and win. You now come to Orlando to take on a struggling UCF squad. You’re now #16 in the rankings and are rising fast. All you have to do is come out with a win against a team that is way worse than the teams you beat the last 2 weeks. You want to know what the score was? 45-3 UCF. I mean YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME?? Where was this Cowboys team when they faced Kansas? Alan Bowmen, crumbled like a cookie with 3 interceptions to UCF. Their all-NCAA contending running back in Ollie Gordon II had 25 yards. You only had 277 yards of total offense. ONE GUY ALMOST HAD THAT NUMBER LAST WEEK ALONE!! I mean what a dumpster fire of a loss. Now, they need to bounce back in a big way. They face Houston and BYU in the next 2 weeks. If they want to have a shot at a New Year's bowl, they need to play better. I mean a lot better.
Arizona FOOTBALL??!- When Arizona University is talked about in a sports atmosphere, it’s usually about their basketball team. How historically good they are, how good they have been, and how good they are going to be this year. However, the buzz isn’t going straight to basketball this year. This football team is so fun to watch. Before this year, I thought Arizona was like Gonzaga. I didn’t think they had a football team. Or at least one to talk about. This season, the Wildcats find themselves 7-3 with wins over ranked opponents in Washington State, Oregon State, and UCLA. This week they beat Coach Prime (who is now projected to not even make a bowl game) to win their 4th game in a row. The Wildcats defense continues to put the team on their back and annihilate any opposing offense. Jonah Coleman rushed 11 times FOR 179 YARDS!! Noah Fifitia also has shown massive improvement since the USC game by throwing 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. Sure, this squad isn’t making the College Football Playoff. However, if I saw them as my opponent in my bowl game, I would be shitting bricks.
