Dude…

We are almost officially in March!! The College basketball season is winding down and the best part is about to begin. Conference tournament play starts as early as Monday. The Dudes have you covered with the latest reactions to this week's games!! So, get your popcorn ready, find a nice quiet place, and enjoy this week’s CBB Corner!!!

PC’S CBB Corner:

Kansas is done: What a brutal loss the Jayhawks took this Tuesday. Just an awful performance in Allen Fieldhouse against BYU. BYU Beat Kansas 76-68 in The Phog. The Phog is a place where Kansas doesn’t lose. They’ve been nearly perfect for over a decade in that building. However, BYU was coming in to prove something. That they belong. Oh boy, did they prove it. Dallin Hall led the Cougars in points with 18. He went 3-6 from the 3 point line, and the Cougars made 13 three pointers in total. You want to know how Kansas shot? 3-15 from deep. These Kansas Jayhawks had their struggles, but it seemed like they could get over those by their incredible play from their 4 star players. However, Kevin McCullar being sidelined makes that struggle seem even bigger. The Jayhawks aren’t going to win the Big 12. That was already a huge mountain to climb. It is unclimbable now. The Jayhawks have always needed one more guy to step up. Now they need more than that. Nick Timberlake has been inconsistent this year and has turned out to be a bust for Kansas. Elmarko Jackson is way too raw to be a factor. Who else can you step up? McDowell? Unlikely since he never sees the floor. If Kansas wants to do anything in the tournament, a few things need to happen. One, Hunter Dickenson needs to be better. Yes, he’s been great, but great doesn’t cover it. He needs to be phenomenal. Dajuan Harris needs to shoot the ball. I understand that his game is to pass the ball, but he doesn’t have many options to pass the ball to. When he is confident and shoots the rock, the Jayhawks have a better chance to win. Finally, KJ needs the ball more. He has been struggling as of lately, but the Jayhawks need him to be even better. This squad needs a lot of help, and a lot of it is riding on their best players to step up even more. If not, watch them to be the upsetted team coming in March.

Court Storm at Wake takes a Turn: Wake Forest got a massive win. A tournament auto bid type of win. The Demon Deacons were on the cusp of yet another disappointing season. The Duke Blue Devils were their ticket to the big dance if they could get a win. They got that win. That’s not what I really want to talk about. After the game, it appears, star forward Kyle Filipowski got run over by fans storming the court. Now, I am a huge fan of the court storming. Not only is it a great image, but it’s awesome to see a fan base be able to celebrate an upset win in this fashion. It’s one of the coolest things in sports. However, the fans of Wake Forest might have shattered this great decision with one swift storm. A well known name in the sport, on one of the best teams in the sport gets hurt. He is a future first round draft pick. Having students run over a player is an awful sight. Yes, you’re excited. Yes, you want to celebrate with the team. However, no ones life or career should be threatened due to this celebration. I heard a great idea from multiple different people. Have the shot clock go restart and allow all players to exit the floor. Have the home team wait for the fans in the middle of the floor. When the shot clock goes off, then they can storm the court. The player's safety should be the most important thing above all else. I love this tradition, but some changes need to be made to make sure the players are safe.

Big SEC Matchup this Weekend: A big matchup between the top 2 teams in the SEC are heading for a collision course. The Tennessee Volunteers head to Tuscaloosa to take on Nate Oats and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Both teams got great wins on Wednesday night. Tennessee beat Auburn with a special performance coming from Dalton Knecht. Alabama beat Ole Miss to continue to look like a threat in the loaded SEC. Alabama has been playing well, but I don't know if anyone in the country can stop Dalton Knecht. He is a three level scorer who continues to dominate any opponent they face. Alabama isn't going to try to slow down this Tennessee offense, they're going to try to out pace them. The Crimson Tide have a fantastic coach who will have a game plan. It is yet to be seen that Dalton Knecht can be stopped, but the Crimson Tide are going to try. This highly competitive game will be a must watch before the SEC Tournament later on this month.

How6rd unfortunately got caught up with stuff so this article is just from PC. Watch out for Washington State as they got a huge win against Arizona, even though they lost to Arizona State right after.
